It astounds me the extent to which affiliated individuals in the UK, some of its businesses and its media do not understand the Ministry of Defence. Its actually shameful to observe the inaccuracy of reporting from Iraq. I have had British Army Generals and their Brigadiers stand in front of me personally and tell me it isn’t like they report it on TV, instead, the fighting in Basra even now is hand-to-hand, bloody and terrifying. When you are actually looking in to the eyes of one of these guys the difficulty and brutality of their daily working lives is perceptibly communicated. The media simply fails to communicate this information not just to the population but it should be remembered to the politicians who will react to the public’s response to those images and probably not a lot else. And why should they, aren’t politicians there to do what the people want? If we don’t even know about it, how are we to expect progress towards a solution. The media should act more responsibly. I thought Charity started at home.

The Information revolution that has swept through global commerce has not had the same impact in the World’s Armed Forces. It could be argued to have had the opposite effect. The computer has made redundant the typing pools of business and its endless tiers of administration. People now own their problems at work more fully and cannot delegate as freely to their subordinates, we are all expected to be experts at creating infernal powerpoint presentations. Its more obvious now where a work issue lies in a business because it is mostly
