It is with great pleasure and personal pride that I take up tenure as President of SAE-UK and I take this opportunity to thank David Smith for his presidential leadership over the last two years and look forward to his continued support in his role as immediate Past President.
As with all Institutes and Societies adaptation and flexibility are necessary to ensure the aims and objectives of any organisation remain focused to reflect the changing needs of the industries they serve. SAE-UK is dedicated to encouraging the sustained availability of engineering resource skills for the mobility industry.
My presidential campaign will concentrate on the growth of Corporate and Personal membership of SAE-UK to support this objective and in this pursuance SAE-UK will foster close working relationships with the relevant national universities to promote the sponsorship opportunities available for the benefit of corporate organisations.
SAE-UK is able to offer its personal members the route to registration for Chartered Engineer status through Engineering Council UK as a cost effective alternative based on an individual’s industry experience and qualification which can be recognised as a major benefit to corporate organisations as a reflection of the quality of their engineering resources.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank SAE-UK, Executive Director, Dr. Anthony McDonagh-Smith for his initiative in the launch of SAE-UK Defence Integration
magazine which is a unique publication in this industry sector and in the fullness of time will reap investment opportunity to assist SAE-UK to maintain its aims and objectives.
I look forward to the continued support of SAE-UK Council and regional section committees in the delivery of promoting the benefits of Corporate and Personal membership and its charitable aims of encouraging young engineers into the mobility industry through SAE-UK, A World In Motion (AWIM) programme.
The next two years will be a challenging time for SAE-UK however, as an affiliate to SAE International (SAE-I) we will continue as an organisation to provide a technical and social calendar of events for our Corporate and Personal members alike whilst maintaining a professional brand association through SAE-UK and Engineering Council.
It is a great privilege and honour to be elected by SAE-UK, Council to serve as President for the SAE-UK membership and my personal remit is to take SAE-UK forward in achieving the aims and objectives that it has set for itself in providing a quality organisation dedicated to improving and elevating the technical and general skill knowledge and competence and promoting the scientific training of persons engaged in the employment or in connection with the performance and safety of the mobility industry.
