CIMPA, a European Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) service provider is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Airbus division of EADS. CIMPA comprises three main business units, located in France, Germany and the United Kingdom employing around 1,000 experts. CIMPA offers consultancy plus IT solution development and support at every phase of the product lifecycle - from conception to use - helping companies to increase operational efficiency. With over 15 years of experience and numerous successful large-scale projects deployed within EADS and its divisions, CIMPA has a deep understanding of processes and technology and has developed core competencies in the areas of aerospace, defense, transportation and other industries. Major clients include the EADS Group (comprising Airbus, Astrium, Eurocopter, MBDA, Sogerma, Defence and Security), RECARO Aircraft Seating, DaimlerChrysler, Renault, Stork Fokker, Messier Dowty, Liebherr, and GKN Aerospace.
Like other EADS business units, CIMPA had a presence on the EADS stand at the 2008 Farnborough International Airshow (FIA). This provided CIMPA with a good opportunity to meet current and potential clients and partners from all over the world. It also reinforced CIMPA’s position within the EADS family as being the PLM service provider of the world's leading aircraft manufacturer.
Farnborough was particularly successful for CIMPA’s youngest family member, CIMPA Ltd., the UK hub for CIMPA established in 2005. There was particular interest in two services provided by CIMPA Ltd: TrakLOGIK® and CIMPA Training Solutions (CTS).
This interest is perhaps attributable to the continued efforts made by companies to make their processes leaner and more efficient. Companies are looking beyond traditional solutions and are more open to |

innovative concepts based on state-of-the-art-technology. CIMPA’s TrakLOGIK® solutions offer exactly that: end-to-end, innovative solutions using the latest technology to enable leaner, safer and more competitive business processes. We held discussions with several parties about our concepts for using TrakLOGIK® to track and trace assets (e.g. parts, tools, GSE) and to enable leaner configuration management with large assemblies (e.g. landing gear).
CIMPA Training Solutions (CTS) also generated significant interest at the FIA. Companies within the manufacturing industry are challenged by rapidly changing environments driven by the evolution of technologies, methods, processes and the continuous efforts to make their organisations leaner, such as in the “Extended Enterprise” concept. The introduction of this concept to enhance collaboration between Original Equipment Manufacturers, suppliers and partners boosts the need for consistent virtual product definition, processes, methods and tools. This requires not only initial training but also continuous tuition of evolving business methods throughout the entire product lifecycle.
